Our Home’s History

Down East Comfort B&B is nestled in one of Miramichi’s most distinguished Queen Anne-style homes, surrounded by other historic gems from the same era. Built in 1903 by wood merchant Mr. John Miller, this stunning property later became the cherished home of the renowned Creaghan family for several generations. Lovingly restored by its previous owners, the home has been brought back to its former glory with meticulous attention to detail. Now owned by the Fultons, it proudly operates as Down East Comfort Bed and Breakfast, welcoming guests to experience its unique charm and rich history.

A Home of Timeless Elegance and Historic Firsts

This historic home boasts a wealth of stunning features, including elegant oak inlaid hardwood floors, vibrant stained glass windows, a brass lamppost staircase, and an original fireplace adorned with intricate cast iron panels. The high ceilings, complete with decorative moldings and cornices in every room, add to its timeless charm. A standout centerpiece is the living room chandelier, which once graced the former Parliament building in Fredericton. Remarkably, this was also the first home in Newcastle (now part of the city of Miramichi) to be outfitted with electricity, making it a true landmark of its time.
