The family-run B&B is furnished with a great deal of love and care.We stayed two nights in the Nova Scotia suit.Natasha and her parents Joanne & Ivan looked after us with friendly, warm-hearted and humorous words and gestures. This is the atmosphere in the whole house. The breakfast is also freshly prepared with lots of love and fine ingredients and leaves nothing to be desired. The Down East Comfort B&B clearly exceeded our expectations. Simply wonderful!

Having grown up on the Miramichi, I would walk past this “yellow house’ frequently and always wonder what it was like inside. I finally got to experience this home this past weekend! My one word to sum it all up would be ‘magical’From the beauty of the home itself to the attention to detail was amazing! Ivan and Joanne were fantastic hosts!!We stayed in the NS room and loved it!! Fabulous king bed super comfortable!!We will be back!!!Crystal and Scott 💕

We have stayed in many B and B’s in Europe and this superb home away from home is among the best!Natasha has the gift of recreating her vision of “comfort” and “east coast” with the most incredible attention to detail. She has thought of everything that a guest may need or want.It is wonderful to see a beautiful, stately home being restored, loved, lived in and shared with others rather than meeting the wrecking ball!Natasha is very lucky to have Joanne and Ivan as hosts to welcome, care for and entertain the guests. The magic that takes place in the kitchen is apparent as it arrives on the breakfast plates in the beautiful dining room.We were glad to have booked two nights but it would have been wonderful to have even longer to learn more of the history, explore all of the “bits and bobs” and enjoy the spaces indoors and out…sadly, we never did have our glass of wine on the deck.As we were there in September, the decor was autumnal and it was lovely. It would be wonderful to see what Natasha does in other seasons and I imagine that Christmastime is decorated beautifully. We highly recommend Down East Comfort Bed and Breakfast and advise that you stay as long as you can!

Can’t say enough praises about this place! We were visiting with family last month and found this most exquisite and charming B&B situated near numerous little shops in the heart of Newcastle. Everything was absolutely perfect ! The room was tastefully decorated and exuded plenty of charm. The bathroom had ample space and included a shower, claw tub, and a selection of superb toiletries. The hosts, Joanne and Ivan, were a delight to interact with. We absolutely adore them ! Each morning they provided us with a tasty breakfast along with interesting conversation. As we visit Miramichi every year, this will definitely be the place we return to. We slept in the Nova Scotia suite, but the other rooms were just as charming.Thank you, Ivan and Joanne for your kindness and hospitality!Carmen and Normand

What a wonderful way to end a week-long road trip! Down East Comfort is a heritage property, amazingly decorated, with a level of service that was the most special of any of our other stays. Next time in the Miramichi we are staying more than one night!

My daughter and I stayed at Down East for three nights in early September while investigating my family's roots. We could not have asked for a more welcoming inn. Our room, the Nova Scotia suite, had every small thing one could want during our stay including coffee right outside our room for that early morning cup. Breakfasts were fabulous. We felt that we had a home base as we explored Miramichi. Thank you Natasha and her "team of volunteers", as an earlier reviewer describes your mom and dad, for the superb experience that you provide.

What a gem! If you are staying in Mirimachi, this place is wonderful! I can’t say enough. Natasha is charming, welcoming, professional and clearly enjoys making her guests feel special and pampered. The decor of this graceful, well maintained home is a tasteful mix of Victorian, Scottish and nautical. The rooms and shared spaces are ultra clean. The floors gleam; the chandeliers in the bedrooms and bathrooms sparkle; the bedding is crisp and white. Natasha has equipped each suite and the common areas with every convenience. The breakfasts are exceptionally delicious and the portions are generous. Now that I have experienced authentic down east home comfort it will be hard to beat this wonderful bed and breakfast. I can’t wait to return. Next time I will be sure to stay longer.

My husband and I enjoyed “Down East” comfort at this B&B from June 18-21st while visiting family in Miramichi. We left feeling like we had been staying with friends as well. The B&B is a lovingly restored Victorian home with all the amenities you would hope for in a modern B&B. The Maritime provincial tartan-themed rooms, china and place settings were charming; and the homemade breakfasts were well prepared and delicious! As an extra touch we were hosted in the dining room by a dapper gentleman with a twinkle in his eye, a ready joke and a cheeky bow tie. The 10-minute walk to the town’s shops and dining was very convenient and as a bonus there is a 15-minute walk to the nearby Strawberry Marsh Trail. The area is part of a restored marsh with views of the town and river; and is perfect for discovering the local flora and birdwatching. I especially enjoyed my time on the lovely front veranda, a shady spot to enjoy a beverage and a conversation or good book. I highly recommend this establishment!

We came out from Vancouver and my son recommended this B&B as the place to stay. I haven't been a fan of B&B's and we travel the western USA every spring. If all B&B's were like this, I would stay nowhere else. The rooms are exceptional as are the hosts. The breakfasts they serve in the morning give you a very sunny start to the day, they are also exceptional. The location is only a very short walk to downtown activities. If this sounds like a glowing review it is meant to be.

The most amazing B&B!We have nothing but praise for this place. We live close by but has stayed twice in the last 3 months because we just can't imagine a more perfect place. The house and rooms are beautiful, the hospitality is top notch and the breakfast is outstanding. Every little detail is so well thought through. If you are going to or through Miramichi, this is the place to stay!

My stay at the Down East Comfort B&B was lovely. The pictures online do not do just to the house’s beautiful craftsmanship and decor. Natasha, the hostess, was warm and welcoming and provided details about the home and region. I stayed in the New Brunswick room and it was stunning with its luxurious four post bed and large bathroom with clawfoot tub. Breakfast was a treat with cinnamon, cream cheese french toast, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt and yummy pastries. My only regret is not having stayed a second night to soak in that clawfoot club!!! Definitely would come again.

We stayed for two nights in the Nova Scotia Suite which had a very comfortable king bed, a nice sitting area and thoughtful touches of 'real' glasses and a small fridge in the room and coffee and snacks available in the hallway shared with the other suites. The bathroom had a glorious claw foot tub as well as a separate shower.Breakfast was delicious and able to be customized to your taste and portion preference (ie. eggs benedict was available with ham or salmon, one or two eggs). We appreciated accommodation of our early departure on Day 2.We had opportunity for an evening chat on the porch with Larry and Natasha which we thoroughly enjoyed. They have a beautiful home and are exceptional hosts. We very highly recommend this B&B and we will definitely stay again if we are back in the area.

I have travelled and stayed in many B&Bs and this one was one of my absolute favourites. The home, the furnishings, the artwork, and the decor were truly gorgeous. All the little touches made such an impression - the tartan coaster given as a gift at the end of my stay, the coffee station and snack station in the sitting area, the flowers on the verandah, the joyful messages on a napkin. The breakfast was beyond delicious and the hosts were lovely and kind. If you are looking for a getaway or retreat, I would highly recommend. We will return!

We have stayed at the Down East Comfort in fall of 2021. It was a wonderful 2-night romantic and absolutely relaxing getaway. The weather was not conducive to sightseeing, but we were absolutely delighted to stay in and relax. The house is a beautifully kept Victorian style residence with a lot of history and stories behind it. The exterior yellow walls and white accents make the architecture pop and I can only imagine how wonderful it would be to return in the summer and read a book on the beautiful porch. As soon as we walked through the door we felt like stepping into an era of Victorian grandeur. The house is full of splendor and impressiveness with beautiful high ceilings, hardwood floors, center staircase and furnished with antique furniture. The large stained glass windows allow the natural light to flow in and make the home feel warm and welcoming, and at the same time highlights the immaculate cleanliness of the whole house. Every corner of the house speaks to its impressive history with unique details like decorative ceiling medallions, functioning cast iron radiators, and (my personal favorite) round cast iron vent covers build into floor baseboards. The main floor is very spacious with a beautiful sitting and dining area, while upstairs hosts three suites, themed based on Atlantic Provinces and room accents with Tartan specific to each province. We have stayed in spectacular New Brunswick suite with “pièce de résistance” being a massive King size 4 post bed with super comfy and pristine, white bed sheets next to a warm fireplace. The en-suite bathroom is antique with beautiful claw foot bath, but also a modern shower and unique bidet toilet. Everything in the room is thoughtful, beginning with homemade pastries waiting for us on a side table, to not one but TWO luggage racks and beautifully scented toiletries and even makeup cloth.Breakfast is a treat in its own right! Everything on the table was perfect and made us feel like royalty. Beginning with New Brunswick tartan tablecloth matching our room, through heated cups (for the coffee or tea to stay warm), tiny “spoon rests”, to little “antique call bell” to call the staff if required. The breakfast itself was fantastic with very generous portions that can be treated as a Sunday brunch. We stayed extra-long at breakfast just to enjoy the experience and its serenity. The staff was wonderful, courteous, polite and in other words “lovely people” who made our stay extra special by making as feel VERY welcome, but without being intrusive or overbearing (loved the custom made aprons!). After the breakfast we were happily surprised to receive pre-stamped POSTCARDS with the picture of B&B which we could send to family and friends. Not having written a postcard for over a decade, we were super excited to share our experience through snail mail. Our family and friends commented that is was nice to receive such a lovely memento instead of the regular bills. We strongly recommend Down East Comfort for its atmosphere, beauty and location. We will certainly be back next summer, and would love to bring the rest of the family, as we know they will enjoy the stay as much as we did and will in the future.

If you are looking for a great B&B, look no further. This well maintained home and host hospitality are second to none. A must stay if you are in the Miramichi area.

My husband and I travelled to New-Brunswick, one of our favorite places to visit. We stayed at the B&B and it was nothing short of amazing. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with such a warm welcome and right away felt at home. We stayed in the New-Brunswick room, it was stunning, well decorated and very comfortable. In the morning, the guest area was always prepared for breakfast as Celtic music filled the room. The food was delicious, fresh pastries and a great variety. During our stay, Natasha and Larry and the team of volunteers always tended to us and made sure we had everything we needed. They were very knowledgeable and make great suggestions for tourist attractions and places to eat. This will become one of our favorite spots to stay in the Maritimes. We love it so much; we are returning in November for a weekend getaway.

We had a wonderful relaxing stay at this beautiful, historic Bed and Breakfast as recommended by a family member. The accommodations were excellent and the best part of our visit was the breakfast in the morning, Natasha and Larry are wonderful hosts and our breakfasts were very tasty and beautifully presented. We would highly recommend this unique place for an overnight visit or an extended stay and we would definitely like to visit them again soon!

Stayed here for a week with my wife, brother and sister-in-law. Had the most amazing experience. Every morning was a new breakfast that was delicious and beautifully presented. They know their community and were able to point us to the great spots that Miramichi has to offer from restaurants, antique store, Beautiful sites and local activities.I highly recommend.
